April 2010

Unbelievably it is still trying to snow! we have had a taste of spring though and hopefully it is just around the corner.

Visitors to Croft View Cottage between 24 April and 9 May should look out for special events which are part of The Peak District Walking Festival; there are some great opportunities to experience the diversity of the Peak District National Park ranging from Parent and Child Rock Climbing to Moorland walks incorporating navigation skills and from Mountain Biking to Story Telling Walks.

Please visit www.visitpeakdistrict.com/pdwf for more details and to book before your stay.

INTERNET WiFi

We have installed Braodband Internet WiFi access in the cottage from the 21st January 2010.

This will help visitors who want to access the internet during their stay for leisure or work purposes plus of course for children who would like access for their Ipods, hand held computers etc!

A password key will be in use to control access.

White Christmas

Well, it was a very white Christmas here in Foolow and continued snowing into the New Year!

It was very pretty but was good to have the log fires to curl up in front of after some stunning walks out in the "Winter Wonderland".

2009 Art Competition

Thank you to everyone who entered our art competition last year; all the entries were great!

Judging took place just before Christmas and was won by Katie Smith who holidayed in Foolow in July. She received a £10 voucher for her lovely summer country scene.

 Well done Katie!

Foolow Christmas cards

Our 13 year old son Fergus painted another Foolow scene for his 2009 Christmas card "Footprints in the Snow" which guests from last year should have received.

He sold almost 300 to friends and neighbours in and around Foolow raising £100 for "Children in Need".

If anyone is interested in buying some for next year we do still have some left , please contact me for details (njcarmichael@hotmail.co.uk).
